Must be comfortable learning to operate an Ice Resurfacer (Zamboni)
Ability to lift/carry ~50lbs and do manual labor, such as shoveling snow off rink and other areas
A self starter and comfortable with basic mechanical systems and equipment – we will provide specific training.
Have the ability to foster positive interactions with the public, and the ability to calmly resolve potential customer service issues
Must appreciate kids and families
Previous customer service experience preferred
Previous experience managing others is preferred
Experience working in an Ice Arena or related recreation facility is preferred, but not required
CPR/first aid training a plus
Responsibilities
Oversee hiring/scheduling of staff
Supervise/manage 1-2 people who will be supervising skaters
Operate Ice Resurfacer and ensure ice is ready and safe for use
Remove snow from rink area as necessary (requires shoveling as necessary)
Oversee daily sales
Process all admission transactions accurately by cash, credit card or automatic debit
Schedule and reserve use of the rink; including birthday parties and special events
Ensure proper documentation is filled out and processed correctly
Check all mechanical aspects related to the Rink
Maintain safe area around rink facilities
Clear ice during storms
Able to handle medical and safety issues that may come up
Retrieve, install and tear down the special decking and carpeting used for special events
Deal calmly and efficiently with situations relating to guests
Adhere to all specified safety regulations at all times, while being courteous to guests
Position would require a fair amount of time outdoors (there will be a heated tent to be able to warm up) and would also require a significant amount of time standing and moving.
Pay is hourly, and commensurate with experience, and hours would depend on weather conditions. Expectation is ~40 hour work week. However, there may be weeks with less and some with overtime.
Role for this year will be ~ 5 weeks starting toward the end of January. One 5 day week of training plus 4 weeks on the job (Wednesday-Sunday). Training will be at Westport PAL rink for one week prior to starting at the Boucher Community Ice Rink
